Branded red leather straps for Olson® holiday gifts
A custom order for our friends at @OLSONagency. I'm kind of in love with this red strap. Maybe we should do a limited edition series. What do you think of the red?

Hi Ben! Thanks for the note. I think the color is fun. I totally hear what you’re saying about the seemingly “naturalness” of brown and black and the base collection does lean that way but in the process of working on this, I learned a lot about ancient methods of adding color to leather (plants, berries, bugs). The act of dyeing leather a color came long before the invention of plastic so I guess I didn’t really think of that connection but more in that it just adds small bit of delight (as color is wont to do). I wonder if the same connection about it being derivative of plastic would be drawn if it wasn’t wrapped around a iPad which is often protected by something that is plastic and usually offered in a spectrum of colors.
It was challenging to get the color right and consistent but it was fun. We’ll likely do some more. Thanks again for your note, Angie.
P.S. Here’s a photo of the red on the charcoal: http://instagram.com/p/bT7H9Fx1V7/ It’s instagrammed so the color is a little off but you get the idea.
I kind of like the red strap. Would it appear more intensely red, more saturated against the darker felt? I’m asking out of curiosity, not because of aesthetics. There is a lot to be said for processes respecting integrity instead of forcing products beyond what is natural. Part of the beauty of your products is they do not mimic mass-produced plastics in their forms or colors.
That said, I do like the addition of stamping on the strap.
